Latest News If you got this far, you're just a click away from checking out the Latest News while you're here. Do. It is by far the most often updated, most playful, and most informative of all the bhutton.com pages, regarding the most recent projects, events and adventures of B. Hutton and friends. Read about the decidedly quirky puppetry and Spoken Word projects put on by the Buzz O Plex contingent. Catch up on on the most current workshops being offered by B. Hutton and the crew of innovative educators he hangs with.

About Brian You didn't think B. Hutton started off as a spectacle-wearing, hair-greying, (some say silvering) odd-jobbing, cartoon drawing, rant writing, etch-a-sketching, 53 year old smirking quirk convention, did you? ...Did you? For a little bit of an inside insight on what went wrong, (or right) this is the page to check out.

Writings B. Hutton's writings have appeared in the Anchorage Press, the AK Verve, and various other anthologies and journals. He has presented his original performance pieces in solo and group shows in Anchorage and around the state of Alaska, as well as in various places around the U. S. and Japan. Some pieces have been recorded and have appeared on television or in film, or have been heard on radio or CD. His plays have been performed both by live actors and puppets.

This page will provide some examples of written works and a growing list of works out there and where to access them.

Workshops B. Hutton has worked as an educator and mental health professional for almost 30 years. He first began designing and facilitating workshops in 1977, when his own experiences with the creative process informed the development of The Creative Expression Workshop. This multi-media workshop has been presented in a wide variety of settings for a wide range of populations, including parents, educators and child care professionals, business people and artists, children of all ages and the developmentally impaired. Other creativity workshops have been developed and presented on Creative Writing and Spoken Word, Mime, Cartooning, Animation, Papier Mache', and 'Puppetry for the Classroom', developed and presented at the Kenai Arts Institute with Buzz Schwall of Buzzoplex Productions.

Buzz Schwall and I have been accepted into the Alaska State Council on the Arts' Artists in Schools program with our two week intensive Puppet Construction, Manipulation and Stagecraft Workshop. Participating schools can apply to ASCA for funding assistance to have us come out as artists in residence during the 2004-2005 school year. Interested schools must apply by April 1 for the following school year.

Groups with a more pronounced mental health focus have included on-going therapy groups and groups on Creative Problem Solving, Communication Skills, Assertiveness Training, Anger Management, and most recently 'Dealing With Difficult Adults', for adolescents and young adults.

The WORKSHOP CONSORTIUM, a project currently in development, seeks to link creative workshop presenters with venues across the state of Alaska.

This page will provide a listing of workshops and groups being offered by members of the WORKSHOP CONSORTIUM, as well as information on how to book them.

Cartoons B. Hutton has published cartoons in the Anchorage Press and the AK Verve. His cartoon images have also appeared in posters and murals and in a line of postcards and t-shirts sold under the banner UP THE STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS WITHOUT A PADDLE.

This page will provide a selection of cartoon images and a listing of published cartoons, as well as a catalog of, with information for ordering UP THE STREAM postcards.

Radio B. Hutton produced and hosted THE RADIO SHOW on KNBA 90.3 FM Anchorage from July, 2000 through September 2003. THE RADIO SHOW was a weekly half hour program of Spoken Word and Radio Theater airing 8:30 a.m. on Saturdays.

The show featured recorded work by established writers, such as Jack Kerouac, Maya Angelou, Howard Zinn, Laurie Anderson and others, usually in their own voices. More importantly, it showcased original work by writers you might not have heard of. The original segments included guest readings and interviews, radio plays and performance pieces.

This page provides a catalogue of past RADIO SHOW's with links to guests.
